Senior Thesis : Patisserie vol.1 & 2

Project Information
Pâtisserie is my senior thesis project exploring the relationship between fashion, indulgence, and cultural luxury through the visual language of French desserts. Historically, pâtisserie represents the ornamental and superfluous side of culture—objects of beauty and desire created beyond necessity.

The concept also reflects my personal interpretation of the “guilty pleasure”—the consumption of something deeply desirable followed by a sense of emptiness. Drawing inspiration from the architecture and historical craftsmanship of classic French pastries such as pain au chocolat, Saint-Honoré, and mille-feuille, the collection translates their layered structures, textures, and decorative qualities into garment design.

The thesis is presented in two volumes. Volume I documents the full collection design and conceptual development, while Volume II focuses on two selected looks that were fully constructed and realized as final garments. The entire project was self-produced—from design and garment construction to the art direction of the final photoshoot.

The two completed looks ultimately celebrate overcoming self-hatred and embracing my authentic self.
